Amaya Kim-Senior

The brains behind the creations

Amaya's love of crocheting began when she was about 9 years old after attending a meeting of the knitting club at the high school at which her parents worked at the time. After learning the basics of knitting and crocheting, she opted for crocheting and took to it immediately. Amaya has been creating since she can remember having been given plenty of art supplies and encouragement to draw and paint from her parents at a young age. Amaya has also loved animals for as long as she can remember, soaking up book after book on various animals and is now a bit of a walking encyclopedia herself with her knowledge of animals. What better way to combine her love of creating and animals than to crochet animals. With a keen sense for color combinations and eye for detail, Amayamals are bold, whimsical, playful and are sure to delight and add a smile to your day.

Tran Kim-Senior

The brains behind the operation

Tran is arguably Amaya's biggest fan and cheerleader though her father might beg to differ. She helps Amaya brainstorm ideas and color combinations and manages the business and logistics side of Amayamals. This currently means managing this website, getting Amaya the supplies she needs to create to her heart's content, marketing and basically everything that doesn't involve crocheting. When not supporting Amaya (and her brother) in her many endeavors, Tran is a school admissions professional and educator who is passionate about social justice and equity and access issues in the education space. In her free time, Tran enjoys reading, cooking, listening to the news, playing tennis, zumba, yoga, following current events, finding the best deals on whatever needs to be bought, and watching TV with the family. She hopes to one day learn how to crochet like Amaya.
